5000 Light Years Beyond the Speed of Sound (2016/17) (Nappystar Chocolates). Produced by long time collaborator and bass player “Big” Mike Mitschele, 5000 LightYears finds the classic full Leisure McCorkle band back at what they do best – making fantastic hook filled pop songs. Although clearly influenced b early Americana college rock and British alternative/Manchester/shoegazer styles, this full album marks a return to the art of emotive songwriting and clever lyrics. Leisure is currently on tour with the band solo in America and Europe to promote the album. It is available at live shows, and on iTunes and other digital music services.

With Outshyne being on a recent roll lately, it became even better when the major market retailed magazine “Country Weekly” did an interview in its November edition. The band had a whole page with picture and the interview from writer Jon Freeman in its “Who’s New” segment. Country Superstar Chris Young appears on the cover of the month’s edition.
“Man it’s great to appear in a major magazine like Country Weekly. Be sure to go out and get a copy soon and bring it to shows for us to sign. That would be awesome.” said Waylon Owings.
Playing with an Idol: Outshyne recently signed on to play with an idol of the group… Dwight Yoakam. Outshyne will be opening the show for Dwight on Dec. 10th in Durham, NC. “We love some Dwight Yoakam. We are very excited to get to play with a legend like him” said Outshyne’s Jason Paxton

Haywire formed in Charlottetown in 1981 by David Rashed, Paul MacAusland, Marvin Birt, Scott Roberts and Ronnie Switzer. In 1984 they won the Q104 Homegrown Vol. 1 contest; the first prize was the chance to record a single, but they took the opportunity to invest their own money and record a 5-song EP, which eventually sold over 5,000 copies in the Maritimes. In 1985 they won the Labatt’s Battle of the Bands, and used the $10,000 first prize to record more material. While the band member lineup had been largely unaltered from the start, drummer Sean Kilbride was the fourth drummer in the group’s short history. Ron ‘Bumble’ LeBlanc had replaced the original Haywire drummer Scott Roberts in 1984. He remained with the band through their demo stages, EP, and can be heard playing on two cuts of the band’s first record with Attic. LeBlanc was replaced by Mac Cole when he decided to move on from the group and pursue a formal education. Cole only played two months with the band, when Haywire’s long-time friend Kilbride became available for the job. In the summer of 1986 the group signed up Kilbride and successfully pursued a record contract with Attic.
Luke Bryan’s What Makes You Country Tour officially gets underway next month, but the country singer has already added a new run of dates that extends the tour into early fall.
