Alexa Jenson:
Our vibe: young, angsty, female singer-songwriter walks into a rock ‘n’ roll club for the first time, rounds up the most talented musicians in the joint, forms a band that brings sass, skill, and energy to any stereo or stage, and has a damn good time doing it.
Maya Beth Atkins:
Māya Beth Atkins is a singer-songwriter based in Charlotte and Asheville, N.C.

Megan Jean & the KFB present Lounge Act: The Songs of Nirvana as Jazz

Megan Jean and the KFB present Lounge Act: The Songs of Nirvana as Jazz

In the four years since their last album, Megan Jean and the Klay Family Band have undergone something of an identity crisis. Sure, there are elements that have remained the same: Megan Jean’s hurricane of a voice that can glide from baritone to mezzo soprano without breaking a sweat; the engine-room thrum-and-stomp of her husband Byrne Klay on banjo and bass drum — that’s all intact.

Unified Souls First Anniversary w/ Dj Mark Francis
Jun 8 @ 10:00 pm – Jun 9 @ 2:00 am

We (UNIFIED SOULS) are extremely happy to announce and invite everyone to our first anniversary!!
It is with great excitement that we (UNIFIED SOULS) present to some and introduce to others, for the first time in Charlotte Nc, our brother (MARK FRANCIS)
Once in a lifetime you come across a producer that truly personifies the music genre.
Welcome to the sounds of producer/DJ Mark Francis. Pennsylvania born, New Jersey bred, DJ Mark Francis has become a force to be reckoned with. Right hand to the legendary Timmy Regisford, a resident at Club Shelter, and liaison to so many in dance music, Mark exemplifies the sound and movement of New York’s underground that’s has translated from New York to the world.
An avid music listener and collector, Mark Francis first experienced House Music in 1992, after hearing ‘Follow Me’, by Aly Us, he was intrigued and wanted more of this unique sound. After listening and studying the artistry of the insanely talented DJs, vocalist, and producers that influenced his career such as Omar Abdullah, Tyrone Francis, Timmy Regisford and Jihad Muhammad, and DJ Spen, Mark has developed his own niche; an innate ability to ride and blend tracks that take the dancer on a rhythmic journey as well as create them.
He was inspired by the legendary DJs that came before him like Tony Humphries on 98.7 KISS FM, and Louie Vega on HOT 97. In 2006, he met friend and basketball rival DJ Adam Rios who introduced him and his diverse tunes to DJ Timmy Regisford of NYC’s infamous Club Shelter. It wasn’t until 2008 when he debuted at the WMC Club Shelter Party in Miami, that he was able to share his gifts and joined the Club Shelter family. Affectionately known as the “Human IPod,” Mark Francis’ wonderful musical perception, as well as his passion for Deep, Afro, Soulful House, and R&B remixes have paved the way for a vibrant passionate future in music as a DJ and he has traveled the world from Greece, London, France, Portugal, and Italy spinning in the nightclubs throughout in notorious clubs with his brand and style. He looks forward to continuing to share his energetic musicality venturing into a new movement, embracing all that he has learned from the mentors he studied and surrounded himself around. Be sure to catch him when he arrives close to you to experience the sounds and vibe enter into the energy of DJ Mark Francis

The Underground Open Mic: June Edition
Jun 17 @ 7:00 pm – 11:00 pm

Come join us for The Underground Open Mic. All performers, styles, genres, and skill level are welcome to signup. Each month will have a featured artist.

Proceeds to benefit the UNDERGROUND Mobile Art Gallery.
The UNDERGROUND Mobile Art Gallery will bring amazing visual, musical, poetic, graphic, and historical works from local and accessible black artist right to Charlotte lower-income neighborhoods.

Our goal is to put an interactive Renaissance style art movement right in the heart of the hood, thus giving the youth in Charlotte’s at risk neighborhoods (where there’s mad talent, but nowhere to cultivate it) the opportunity to work with local artists, musicians, writers, gardeners, and historians on their own turf!

Dane Page Heart Hunters
Jun 22 @ 7:30 pm
Dane Page

Dane Page

Dane Page is a singer-songwriter living in Charlotte, North Carolina. Influenced by the traditions of Hank Williams and Woody Guthrie, his music reflects the complexities of modern life while keeping true to the simple tenets of songwriting. Dane’s lyrics weave listeners through Greek mythology, 20th Century literature, and American history while telling stories of love, loss, happiness, and pain. His music pulls from contemporary folk artists like Josh Ritter and Gregory Alan Isakov, but also ventures into sounds reminiscent of The War on Drugs and Tame Impala.

Dane Page continues to tour through the southeast and mid-Atlantic in support of his independently produced EP City to City. A collection of bawdy, rambler tunes perfect for taprooms, bars, and breweries. Selma (Summer 2018) will be his first full-length record. Selma is a more mature album that pushes the boundaries of folk and gives Dane the space to fully develop his sound.

Dane is a storyteller perfect for intimate rooms where audiences can delve into the imagery and lyricism of his songs. The full band—Eric Fellner on bass, Kevin Orlando on guitar, and Josh Kelley on drums—is a dynamic act taking Dane’s solo storytelling ability and adding an infectious blend of folk, rock, and blues capable of filling music halls and festival stages. In either setting, listeners are welcomed into the music and leave feeling like old friends after a bonfire.

Heart Hunters

Heart Hunters

Heart Hunters’ Drew de Man founded his first band, No River City, in 2001 and spent the next several years making records, touring the country and sharing bills with artists such as Iron & Wine, Calexico, and Alejandro Escovedo. After a decade away from the spotlight, his new project Heart Hunters—a duo with his wife, singer/songwriter Brianna Blackbird—builds on the moody indie/alt-country sound de Man explored with No River City, updating them for a new era with debut LP American Eclipse.

Produced by Peter Case (T-Bone Burnett, John Hiatt, Mike Campbell), American Eclipse puts Heart Hunters’ gorgeously wounded harmonies front-and-center
