Good Charlotte has paid tribute to Lil Peep with a cover of Peep’s song “Awful Things”.
Lil Peep, born Gustav Åhr, died of a suspected drug overdose at the age of 21 last month. On Saturday December 2nd, friends and family said goodbye to the late emo hip-hop artist during a beachside memorial service in Long Beach, New York.
Since his death, many artists have come forward to pay tribute to the young rising star. Lil Yachty, Ty Dolla $ign, Travis Barker, Riff Raff, Pete Wentz and many others all took to Twitter to pay their respects. Post Malone even got a tattoo of his late friend’s face. He also tweeted, “in the short time that i knew you, you were a great friend to me and a great person. your music changed the world and it’ll never be the same. i love you bud. forever”.
Now, Good Charlotte also paid tribute to Åhr. The pop punk band covered “Awful Things,” a Lil Peep track that soared to no. 38 on the Billboard charts following his death. Åhr’s mother Liza Womach has co-signed a campaign to get the song to number one.
