Julia Jacklin has quietly made a name for herself in the indie folk/rock scene over the past few years. After a successful debut with Don’t Let The Kids Win in 2016, Jacklin has been keeping pretty busy with music. In fact, just this year she released a new album with a side-project band Phantastic Ferniture. But now Jacklin is opting to focus back in her solo work with the announcement of a new album.
Crushing will be Julia Jacklin’s first proper solo follow-up to her 2016 debut. It’s due out February 22 through the always reliably great Polyvinyl Records. After coming out the gate with such a self-assured debut, Crushing looks to further expand Jacklin’s brilliant songwriting. The Aussie singer has opted to sing even more from the heart this go-around, bring to light personal details unadorned with metaphors. So it sounds as if Crushing will be the most appropriate title for this new batch of songs.
Alongside the album announcement, Jacklin has shared a single from the project with “Head Alone.” The new track follows up the recently released “Body,” which will also appear on Crushing.
