Florence And The Machine released the great, already slightly underrated High As Hope back in June. The album was preceded by a couple of singles, each which pointed to the personal nature of the album. This time out, leader Florence Welch took some time to dive back into her past. She weaved together memories and ideas from years past into such specific detail, it’s nothing short of captivating. And as always, her voice is flawless with its soaring gorgeousness.
Naturally, Florence And The Machine have been taking the new songs out on tour. And as is more often the case these days, they made it a point to stop by those Spotify Studios to record a Singles session. For their session, they recorded a take of the excellent High As Hope single “Hunger,” which is well worth a listen. But the bigger draw (of course) here is the cover, which is their take on Tori Amos’ “Cornflake Girl.” It’s a fantastic rendition of a song from an artist that Florence seems to hold a lot of regard for considering their similarities.
