The Mountain Goats surprise release a new EP for free

The Mountain Goats, and frontman John Darnielle specifically, have had a very busy year. Darnielle released his second fiction novel in February, while his band, The Mountain Goats released their sixteenth studio album, Goths in May. Since then, the band has been on a long tour across the globe.

Now, the band have surprised everyone with a release of a new EP. Marsh Witch Visions collects 4 new acoustic songs about Ozzy Osbourne and a home demo of the opening Goths track, “Rain In Soho.”

Darnielle said this of the new EP:

“I’m proud of these songs, which were probably otherwise going to find the written-and-forgotten destiny that I fetishize and romanticize for so many songs no-one will ever hear, and I’m really happy to be able to share them.”
