Neko Case announces new album ‘Hell-On’

Neko Case is one of the finest modern musicians and singers. She’s been releasing music since her debut in 1997. As her career has progressed she’s shifted from a more alt-country sound to a folkier/rock sound with ease and excitement. Her last solo album, The Worse Things Get, The Harder I Fight, The Harder I Fight, The More I Love You, was a move towards more personal-sounding songs and lush instrumentation. And although she was part of the excellent collaborative album case/lang/veirs (with k.d. lang and Laura Veirs, respectively) in 2016, it’s been a long 5 year wait for new solo material. Well, the wait is over.

Neko Case just announced that her seventh studio album is called Hell-On and is due out June 1 through Anti-. The announcement comes just a few days after a short teaser video went up featuring what is presumably music from the forthcoming first single. She has yet to officially share the single, but we’re willing to bet it will be up very, very soon.

In the meantime, take a look at the cover art and tracklist below. The cover art is, uh, certainly something.
