Radiohead officially release the leaked 17+ hours of ‘OK Computer’ sessions

So, last week was a fairly big and busy ones for Radiohead fans. Word initially got out that someone had hacked the band apparently and stolen over 17 hours of music from the band’s recording sessions for OK Computer. Naturally, all of that material promptly leaked online. Yet it was hard to come by, with fans digging through various corners of the internet in an attempt to find this treasure trove of material. Well, as it turns out, we all could have just waited a bit cause today the band have officially released all the leaked material over on their Bandcamp.

As per a tweet from Radiohead guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Jonny Greenwood:

”We got hacked last week — someone stole thom’s minidisk archive from around the time of OK Computer, and apparently demanded $150,000 on threat of releasing it.

So instead of complaining — much — or ignoring it, we’re releasing all 18 hours on Bandcamp in aid of Extinction Rebellion. Just for the next 18 days. So for £18 you can find out if we should have paid that ransom.

Never intended for public consumption (though some random clips did reach cassette in the OK Computer reissue) it’s only tangentially interesting. And very, very long. Not a phone download. Rainy out, isn’t it though?”

The last we heard from Radiohead came in 2017 with the release of their massive reissue of OK Computer, dubbed OKNOTOK. The reissue contained a full disc of extra songs, some never before released. A more deluxe box set verdion also contained a cassette complete with over an hour of extra stuff, including demos, bits from the recording sessions, and early versions of tracks that would appear on later albums. As Greenwood stated, some of that very same material appears on this massive collection of unreleased material (I guess it’s officially called MINIDISCS [HACKED]?) But, obviously, there’s so so so much more stuff to dig into here. I personally have only spent a little over an hour with this collection, but it’s already proven to be well worth the trip (and money). Oh and speaking of money, all proceeds from the sales of this collection will be donated to the environmental movement Extinction Rebellion. Also, you’ll have just 18 days to stream or buy this thing, so what are you waiting for?!

Buy/stream it right here.
