Produced by Dibs (Cheat Codes, Carley Rae Jepsen), rising star Lydia Halloway has dropped her second single “Gold” and we’re impressed. Her story isn’t one made up of easy experiences, setting her music apart from a basic pop-artist. This new single features a shimmering mixture of Halloway’s layered, high octave vocals and bouncing beats.
“Gold” meditates on the aftermath of ending things with a teenage love who offered no support during the darkest days of her illness, written in her childhood home during the depth of her illness.
“I wrote this song after the end of a really long, beautiful relationship. I didn’t handle things with perfect grace or maturity at the end (I was nineteen) and my ex ended up really demonizing me afterward. ‘Gold’ is about reconciling with that and resetting the narrative on my own terms – I’m not perfect, but I’m not so bad.” – Lydia Halloway
