The Black Keys announce tour with Modest Mouse

Last week The Black Keys dropped a surprise new song with “Lo/HI.” It was a big kick back into the swing of things, and a surprising return considering the duo haven’t released any new music since 2014’s Turn Blue. Although the band have been on an extended break since their last LP, both Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney have kept making music with side projects and solo albums. It began to seem likely that The Black Keys might not be returning to music at any point in the near future. But with the new song, all that changed and the hype for a new album was swiftly underway. Which brings us to today.

Although The Black Keys haven’t shared any details on a new album, today the band surprised us all once again with the announcement of a big new tour. Dubbed the “Let’s Rock” tour, the new batch of dates will start this September and run all the way through much of November. Considering the band haven’t been on tour since their last album, this is big news. But it’s made all the bigger with the announcement of their special guest Modest Mouse, who will be joining them across all 31 dates. Modest Mouse have also appeared to be on a long break, with their last album Strangers To Ourselves coming out back in 2015. Now, Modest Mouse have kept on touring, without even a glimpse of new material on the horizon. But maybe, just maybe, they’re also working on something. Or maybe they’re just here to support the inevitable album release from The Black Keys. Regardless, we should all just keep happy knowing that this tour is going to be a can’t-miss kind of thing.
