The Head And The Heart last dropped an album of new material back in 2016 with Signs Of Life. On that LP, the folk group stretched their sound onto a wider screen, providing more pop hooks and big bursts of flourishes than they had on their previous two records. They initially followed it up with the 2017 demos EP Stinson Beach Sessions, which worked as a pivot back down to the stripped back style of their beginnings. But now the band are back, and ready to hit those arena-ready peaks once again with the announcement of their new album Living Mirage.
Living Mirage will be headed our way on May 17 via Warner Bros. Records. It’ll be their second for the major label, but fourth overall studio album. Alongside the album announcement, the band have shared the album’s lead single “Missed Connection.” Much like the breakout hit “All We Ever Knew” from the band’s last LP, this new single sounds primed and ready to take over the alt airwaves with its big drum beats and catchy chorus. Speaking about the song, singer Jon Russell says:
“Missed Connection came to me through a series of beautiful accidents. The lyrics draw from both real and surreal imagery, interweaving thoughts of doubt and blind confidence. Both of which seem to exist in all of us. It’s a story of what life and love can become when you follow the signs from the universe, where ever they may lead.”
