Trevor Powers is a name that might ring a bell for you, after all he’s been in the music scene since at least 2010. Throughout about seven years, Powers released three albums under the name Youth Lagoon. But early in 2016, he announced that he was ending Youth Lagoon. He essentially said its reached its full potential and he doesn’t have anything to say through that music again. But he promised he would have new music sometime in the future, albeit under a different name. Well, earlier this month he made good on that promise with his debut single “Playwright” which came out under his very own name. And now he’s announced that a new album is on the way.
Mulberry Violence will be the debut album under Trevor Powers’s own name. It’s due out August 17 through his new self-made label Baby Halo. Alongside this announcement, Powers has shared two more singles from the upcoming LP. The new songs “Ache” and “Plaster Saint” further unveil Power’s capabilities in adapting to new sounds. Just like how Youth Lagoon evolved across 3 albums, these new songs are showing he’s evolved yet again. Give a listen to both songs below. No tracklist for Mulberry Violence has been shared just yet, but you can check out the album art and statement from Powers about the LP further down this page.
