Joe Benjamin

Joe Benjamin

Active as bandleader in New York City since the mid 2010s, Joe Benjamin has built many different worlds for his music to live in. Until only a few years ago, he led a massive, genre-bending 11-piece orchestra, whose sheer mass was its own spectacle. As Joe’s style has evolved, his arrangements have become more streamlined, and his new music replaces the cacophony of reeds and brass with a tight three-piece horn section and back-up singers, just as it replaces the bombastic and madcap swing rhythms of his former project with irresistibly danceable grooves and earworm hooks.
While his newest work is heavily influenced by funk and soul bands such as Jamiroquai and Earth, Wind & Fire, Joe Benjamin has a sound all his own, and it is his intoxicating and idiosyncratic style that has brought him on sold-out tours throughout Europe and the United States (the most pertinent of which is his forthcoming summer 2019 tour) and given him a dedicated fanbase at home in New York City. Together with his rhythm section (Ray Cetta, Tom Wilson and Michael Gordon), Joe has written a new album that showcases his previously under-displayed talent for creating searing, insistent grooves, catchy hooks and expansive soundscapes with no frills or pretensions- just the raw, captivating power that Benjamin has always been known for.

Leffty

Leffty

Leffty is a POP/R&B duo based out of Charlotte, NC. Kristian Lietzan on vocals & guitar and Josh Scott on drums. They currently have one single out on all platforms but are fine-tuning new singles as you read, coming from their love of dance, hip-hop, and Prince, accompanied by their experience in love, heartbreak, and the nights they can’t forget. They believe that when somebody dances like no one is watching, they enter into a world where they are everything they were always supposed to be 100% free.

The name Leffty is the story of Kristian. He was born with an abnormality in his left ear, which disfigures the structural bones in the human ear, and closes the ear canal, preventing all hearing through that ear. His parents overcompensated for every fear that he might feel “different’ or “unwanted.” When he was 19, he found out about a surgery that could repair his hearing as well as the appearance. He got his hearing fixed, but when asked about restructuring, he declined because he had truly embraced the anomaly that was him.

Leffty is the name because they want their flaws to be their names. Something recognizable that can inspire their listener to be free from everything weighing them down. With their music, they hope to give everyone a chance to truly embrace their “Leffty,” and maybe dance with somebody new.

They have a slew of new singles releasing later this year and are so hyped to share it with you. Follow them on IG: @Leffty_Official to stay up to date with the duo!

JIM LAUDERDALE
Aug 23 @ 9:00 pm

Jim Lauderdale is a 2-time Grammy winning Americana icon, a singer-songwriter whose unmistakable rhinestone-incrusted silhouette has been a symbol for creative integrity and prolificacy for thirty-one albums over decades of recording. He’s an A-list Nashville songwriter whose songs have ruled the country charts while recording an eclectic catalogue of albums that run the gamut of American roots styles. His prolific streak of releases continues in 2019 with his new album ‘From Another World’.

The twelve songs contained within, all written or co-written by Jim, are his antidote to the anger, divisiveness of today’s world, a world full of bad news and folks yelling at each other on CNN. This is music from another world, a world of empathy, love, forgiveness and humility. Where people find freedom through togetherness, where they struggle to change for the better, where country music still cries with the sound of pedal steel guitar and psychedelic-tinged lyrics flow through aching indelible melodies.

Ali Caldwell – The Cover Art Tour, feat Divinity Roxx
Aug 27 @ 7:30 pm
Ali Caldwell

Ali Caldwell

A dynamic and powerful virtuoso with a soothing touch, Ali Caldwell’s voice is as thrilling as it is comforting. This is modern R&B music that inspires a sense of nostalgia. With whispers that climb into full-throttle belting and back, Ali delivers emotional swings that pick you up, spin you around, plant you firmly back on your feet — and then repeat, with ease. Jazzy notes and meandering harmonies punctuate her work, and her church-gospel background fuels pop sensibilities that provide intensity, conviction, control, and polish.

Ali Caldwell is on a year 2019 high. Currently on tour with Christina Aguilera enjoying the perks of being a feature as well as being featured
supporting vocalist for Christina Aguilera’s Vegas Residency entitled “The Xperience” and Her International Tour entitled “The X Tour”. Ali is not letting up, with her most recent display of flawless television performances on Fox Network’s New Show “The Four”, Season 2 (with a Celebrity Panel consisting of P.Diddy, DJ Khaled & Meghan Trainor) and dominating Season 11 of NBC’s “The Voice” where she garnered an impressive 4 chair turn in her audition. This was the first time America got a chance to experience & witness Ali Caldwell on a huge television platform doing what she’s great at. The world witnessed Ali Caldwell tackle every genre of music with ease making every song selection her own while bringing the house down consistently every show as a member of Miley Cyrus’ team. Ali was the last standing member representing Team Miley all the way to the Semi-Finals. Ali was also featured on BET Centric TV’s Black Music Month series back in February of 2016 as 1 of 4 Independent Black Women in Music to watch. Ali Caldwell is well on her way to accomplishing her dreams after also headlining her own tours. 6 International European Tours encompassing 7 countries as an independent artist to be exact with the help of her imprint 2MaroMedia Inc/2MaroMusicTM. With this level of accomplishment, this entrepreneur/performer says she is just getting started. Ali attributes her successes to being consistent and persistent and by not letting anyone or anything define her. She believes it when she says “Always dare to be different”. Bearing witness to her Live performances it will become evident to you that she has a voice that will be mentioned among the greats of this generation.

The Temptations & The Four Tops
Oct 27 @ 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Returning by popular demand, Motown legends The Temptations & The Four Tops are coming back to Charlotte for a legendary night of all their favorite hits!

For more than fifty years, The Temptations have prospered, propelling popular music with a series of smash hits, and sold-out performances throughout the world.

“The crowds are bigger, the sales are sizzling,” says one industry report. “The outpouring of affection for this super-group has never been greater”.

The history of The Temptations is the history of contemporary American pop. An essential component of the original Motown machine, that amazing engine invented by Berry Gordy, The Temps began their musical life in Detroit in the early sixties. It wasn’t until 1964 however, that the Smokey Robinson written-and-produced “The Way You Do the Things You Do” turned the guys into stars.

One of Motown’s most consistent hit-makers, The Four Tops are among the most stable and consistent vocal groups.

Their first Motown hit, “Baby I Need Your Loving” in 1964, made them stars and their sixties track record on the label is indispensable to any retrospective of the decade. Their songs, soulful and bittersweet, were across-the-board successes. “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch),” a no. 1 R&B and Pop smash in 1965, is one of Motown’s longest-running chart toppers.

In 1990, with 24 Top 40 pop hits to their credit, The Four Tops were inducted into The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. Though they would no longer have hits on record, the group continued to be a hit in concert, touring incessantly, a towering testament to the enduring legacy of the Motown Sound they helped shape and define.
