As you likely already know by now, Fleet Foxes have been gearing up to release a big boxset of all their early material. Naturally titled First Collection 2006-2009, the set collects the band’s debut EP, LP, as well as a host of rare/unreleased tracks. The entire thing comes in a lavish looking box, which features the band’s impossible to buy The Fleet Foxes EP and B Sides & Rarities on separate discs, as well as a booklet chronicling their early days. In short, it’s an impressive-looking collection, sure to be a hit for fans.
As we start to really fall into sublime cold weather, First Collection is coming at the perfect time. It’s also coming just as people are beginning to do some holiday shopping. Coincidence on either count? I think not. But you should also know that the entire thing is now available on all streaming platforms. So this weekend, dive into the band’s first recordings ever and hear them evolve into the band they are now. Also re-listen to the band’s debut album as it’s probably been a while, and it’s time to be reminded of just how consistently good it is. If the snow is falling in your area this weekend, or if the air is just bitingly crisp and chilly, First Collection is here to warm you up. Too sentimental? Well, maybe you just need to get into that holiday spirit that’s getting shoved in our faces already. I know I have. No regrets.
