The Raconteurs haven’t released any new music in quite some time. This Jack White-assisted supergroup last put out a full length album way back in 2008 with the great Consolers of the Lonely. It was their second overall album. And although it started to show how solid the band were becoming as a standalone project, it all sorta fizzled out with a long hiatus. But now that it’s been 10 years, Jack White’s Third Man Records opted to celebrate the band with a fully decked-out anniversary reissue of Consolers of the Lonely for their Vault vinyl subscription box. In addition to having the original album remastered (and on newly colored vinyl), the box also contained a 7″ featuring two brand new songs by The Raconteurs. And now that those Vault packages have started shipping out, The Raconteurs have shared both new tracks with everyone else.
“Sunday Driver” and “Now That You’re Gone” are not just two standalone singles from the group. Instead, they are part of a larger sorta-announcement of the band’s upcoming third album. As of this writing, the only thing known about this third LP is that it’s set to be released sometime in 2019. Both tracks were dropped simultaneously today on all regular streaming platforms, but they also have full videos to accompany them. Also it should be stated that both songs totally rule. It’s nice to have the rocking, blues-riffing Raconteurs back.
